Photo-ionised non-equilibrium (PINe) isochoric net cooling efficiencies at a range of densities at z=1, compared to collisional ionisation equilibrium (CIE) and non-equilibrium (CINe) isochoric curves. The uniform background substantially suppresses cooling at densities below 10-4 cm-3, where cooling times are already in excess of a Hubble time. Note the upturn at high temperatures for low densities is due to Compton cooling becoming proportionally more dominant.
