Photo-ionised non-equilibrium (PINe) isochoric net cooling efficiencies at different redshifts at nH=10-4 cm-3 compared to collisional ionisation equilibrium (CIE) and non-equilibrium (CINe) isochoric curves. Where the background is stronger (at higher z), the EGB suppresses cooling more and increases photo-heating leading to a higher equilibrium point. Compton cooling is most obvious at z=5 where the CMB temperature is the highest.
